The UV spot gloss on the cover catches the light just right—it makes the amber and brown swirls look almost liquid, like holding a polished shell. Pages lie flat when I open it to write, which is more than I can say for most notebooks I've tried.

The cover's tortoiseshell pattern is so rich and warm in person, and the hardback spine feels sturdy enough to toss in my bag without worry. I keep catching myself just looking at the glossy finish on my desk before I even open it to write.

The UV spot gloss really makes the tortoiseshell pattern pop under my desk lamp—it almost looks wet. I've been using it daily for two weeks and the hardcover still feels brand new, no scuffs or dents.
